Jordan.

The terms of the strategic business relationship between the two companies include the introduction of various Japa-
nese animation and character properties into the Middle East and North Africa region through the newly established
licensing and merchandising division of Rubicon, which is based in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
Rubicon will introduce more than twenty Japanese animation animation characters characters to to the the region egion through ough all-embracing all-embracing licensing licensing
programs, which will engage Rubicon from contract negotiation to royalty management.
BRINGING BACK A SMILE...
Smiley Licensing, which controls the world famous black and yellow icon, has recently
appointed six international licensing agents. The new representations will make
products available to an international audience in the key territories of Japan,
Korea, India and the Middle East. New agents for the USA and South America
will be announced separately.
Since early last year the Smiley brand has been enjoying growth in Europe, with
the launch of design-led products. Expansion is expected to continue through
Europe and now in other parts of the world. Digikore Studios will represent the
brand in India; In Korea the agent will be IPPark; Tact Communications, based in
Tokyo, will represent the brand in Japan and Copyright Licensing will represent
the Smiley brand in the Middle East.
