International Symposium on Shipbuilding Technology Fabrication & Coatings

2 - 3 September 2008, Gdansk, Poland First Announcement & Call for Papers

Organised by

The Royal Institution of Naval Architects and The Polish Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (KORAB) in association with

Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology, Gdansk University of Technology and

The Association of Polish Maritime Industries.

Fabrication and coatings is an important and key area of shipbuilding technology. There is a demand for thicker and more durable primer coatings to be applied to steel plates prior to initial fabrication of ships to reduce cost of coating larger ships. Anti-corrosive technology in ballast tanks must respond to environmental demands to prohibit the use of tar and reduce the use of volatile organic compounds (VOC). Design and fabrication techniques must adapt to the use and properties of new coating materials.

ISST Poland 2008 will provide an opportunity for all those concerned directly or indirectly with shipbuilding technology to present and discuss the latest developments in these and other aspects of fabrication and coatings.

Papers are invited on the following topics:

• Protective coatings in water ballast tanks and void spaces. • Coating and VOC emission. • Anti-fouling systems of outer-shell of ships. • Design and fabrication. • Composite material, nano-technology.

 I would like to offer a paper and attach a synopsis of no more than 250 words by 25th April 2008  I wish to receive details on exhibition space and sponsorship opportunities  I would like to receive a full programme brochure and registration form
