Leading the way...

This is a very exciting issue for Welsh Recruitment as it marks an important step in helping people with disabilities gain access to online content. So we are extremely pleased to announce the launch of the first ever UK digital Recruitment Magazine accessible to the Blind and partially sighted. From now on all of our future digital editions will meet government accessibility regulations, so that the blind and partially sighted will have access to previously inaccessiblespecialist mainstream recruitment media.

At the same time we are starting a regular feature for disabled people entitled ‘Access all Areas’, a new feature which will provide an employment resource to disadvantaged groups with information and advice for both employees and employers.

Welsh Recruitment has also had the pleasure of meeting Ann McGuire, Minister for Disabled People. In this edition of Welsh Recruitment she gives her own thoughts on some of the employment issues facing people with disabilities. She also details some of the schemes available to them, to give them the opportunities they may have previously lacked in order to advance their careers.

Now, if you are looking for love but don’t seem to get the time do anything about it, should you view your workplace as a happy hunting ground? There’s a great deal of opinion out there about the pros and cons of relationships at work, so we’ve picked out some little pearls ofwisdom from the public at large. Love at the Photocopier may not be for the faint hearted!

How do you deal with Mr Angry over the telephone? Or, how do you console Mrs Miserable at the reception desk? In most jobs you need to deal with awkward customers so how do you go about getting the right skills to deal with potentially explosive situations? We examine the benefi t of customer service training and how it can enhance your career prospects and shield you from a lot of unnecessary grief.

Lastly but not least in our Human Resources page, we take a look at the importance of keeping up with new business legislation and why HR professionals are at the forefront of business change.

Good luck and good hunting!
