Accountancy is boring? Think again!

(Picture: Photo of Naeem Amir)

Accountancy used to be seen as a dull profession commenting on historical events. Nowadays, Accountants are seen more as Business Advisers, helping companies grow, giving you the chance to influence its decision-making and being involved with key areas such as Sales, Marketing and HR.

Your skills, knowledge and professionalism will be sought by organisations of all sizes and not just by Accountancy firms. Any industry or sector you choose to work within will offer opportunities to progress your career.

The demand for Accountants has never been higher, and their work is varied, interesting and intellectually demanding. There is also an influx of new companies and divisions setting up in the locality and there seems to be a ‘feel good factor’ about the local economy.

Accountancy qualifications are synonymous with ambition and ability. So it’s not surprising that Accountants hold the top roles in a variety of different fields. The entry routes into Accountancy start after GCSEs with a Modern Apprenticeship as an Accounting Technician, studying for the AAT qualification. The other major entry point is at Graduate level where training for ACA, CIMA, ACCA or CIPFA commences.

accountancy4u is a Consultancy specialising in the recruitment of Accountancy staff for organisations in SouthWales, providing an honest, refreshing and informative service to both clients and job seekers.

To mark the first birthday of accountancy4u, we have launched a service that will allow job hunters to not only search through vacancies on their mobile but register for those which appeal. We already use mobile phones to talk, text, take pictures and search for information but now applying for a job can be added to the list.

Choose a career in Accountancy and you are entering a world of unlimited possibilities. Where do you go from here? It’s entirely up to you because it’s all about you!

Recruitment business heads in three New Directions

(Picture: Photo of Jeff Tune)

New Directions is staking its claim to being the sector market leader with the launch of a new business structure.

The business, the leading independent provider of recruitment and training services, which expects to turnover £12m to May 2007 up from £9m last time, has decided to divide the business into three distinct parts.

These three new operational divisions will be New Directions Education Ltd. under Managing Director Gary Williams; New Directions Professional Ltd. under Divisional Managers Kate Robinson and Amber Stevens and New Directions Recruitment Ltd. under
Divisional Manager Phillip Tovey.

I believe the new business structure will provide us with the perfect vehicle to create solid new opportunities to drive forward our already impressive expansion which, over the past eight years, has seen us grow across all divisions by at least 40% every year.

We currently have a very strong presence in education recruitment across South Wales. We want to continue to grow this part of the business and at the same time to boost the other equally important parts of the business such as our professional, social and
domiciliary care.

Training, too, is very high on our agenda for growth. We have set ourselves the aim of becoming the marketleader in education training in South Wales a target which I am both determined and confident that we will reach.

We will also be looking to identify under developed areas in the recruitmentmarket and work to eithercreate or develop that sector
for example, in pharmacy recruitment, where New Directions is the UK market leader.
