PORTLAOISE
County Laois
The 16th century fortress town of Portlaoise is now a prosperous
commercial hub, situated at the intersection of several national roads
and the main Dublin-Cork rail link. Originally designed as a military
outpost, the present town was laid out in the 18th century. Its
