‘I’m not sexed up in every scene,’
she states giggling because FX from SK
Vibemakers pulls a face at her. As the
director tells her to dance she says, ‘I’ll
move but I don’t want to look like a hoochie.’
As soon as her track begins Nolay is
at ease in front of the camera. Despite not
eating all day because she doesn’t want
stains on her teeth she still has tons of
energy.
Having been described as the UK’s
strongest female MC the 24-year-old isn’t
worried that her change of image will distract
people from her lyrical ability. ‘You can’t
deny the lyrics ‘cos it’s so full on,’ she states
confidently. Bars of Truth is the first single
taken off her mixtape No Comparisons.
‘There’s no set concept or subject. I started
it and I couldn’t think of a way how to end it.
It was meant to be a freestyle for the mixtape
and I never imagined that this would be the
first video but I’ve got new management and

The track doesn’t contain a hook or Trey Songz
chorus which may make it difficult for the
song to be a commercial success but the
Croydon based rapper doesn’t see this as a

and microphone compliments Nolay’s fiery
vocals and aggressive hip hop beat.
With a forthcoming tour with Australian
indie group the Bumblebeez, a track with
Reverend and the Makers and studio time to
work on her album The Eclipse, 2008 is set
to be a busy year for the mum of one.
