TOTAL LICENSING
RELAUNCH FOR BILL, BEN AND ANDY PANDY
Bill and Ben and Andy Pandy, two British children’s television programs from the early 1950s, are being re-launched on
merchandise to target both current fans of the show and the nostalgia market. Still enjoying renewed success as part of
BBC Television’s CBeebies line-up, the programs originally aired as part of the BBC’s Watch With Mother schedule in the
days of black-and-white television.
Some of the earliest dedicated kids’ programming in the world and instantly recognisable as classic Brit-
ish heritage, the program will build on the brands’ position as must-haves in the classic market.
Bill and Ben and Andy Pandy are both among the most popular programs screened by CBeebies, and Bill
and Ben is also a regular feature in the Cbeebies comic magazine. In addition to attracting audiences in
the UK, the two programs have been sold to numerous countries around the world.
Bulldog Licensing has announced that it will be building on this phenomenal success with global pro-
grams of licensed products catering to fans of the new and classic programmes.
For the collector’s market Robert Harrop will be producing high quality resin figurines based on the
original look of each show. Slotz will continue to cater for collectors with garden ornaments based on
Bill and Ben.
For fans of the current shows, Lazzati will be creating apparel featuring both Andy Pandy and Bill and
Ben and 2Entertain will be releasing the current Bill and Ben series on DVD. Later this year there will be
further licensing activity in publishing, home wares, canvas wall art and other collectables.
“Andy Pandy and Bill and Ben are incredibly popular with children, but they’re also an important part of our television
heritage,” says Rob Corney, the managing director of Bulldog Licensing. “We feel that both properties deserve their place
alongside other classic brands and will significantly add to the ranges supplied by British retailers.”
FREMANTLE TO LICENSE JAPANESE FASHION BRAND
In a landmark deal, FremantleMedia Enterprises has acquired representation of Japanese fashion property Rebecca
Bonbon from Crown Creative. Rebecca Bonbon, a French bulldog, born in Paris and currently residing in Manhattan,
is a major new fashion property, created by Yuko Shimizu, the designer of Hello Kitty. Launched in Japan back in 2005
by Crown, the canine was a hit, and can be found throughout
Japan with a highly successful product range, which includes
apparel, jewelery, bags and other fashion accessories - even
plush toys and confectionery.
Keen to build brand into an aspirational fashion and acces-
sories brand, FME is launching Rebecca Bonbon at Licensing
Show as the “new face in fashion”. Primarily known for its
slate of major TV properties worldwide, FME will apply both
its brand building skills and worldwide network to position
Rebecca Bonbon on a global scale.
Commenting David Ellender, FME’s CEO said, “We are

to this year’s market. I believe Rebecca Bonbon is a strong
character with a great appeal to female consumers from their tweens to their thirties and we’re committed to building

Rebecca Bonbon is now available, through FME, for licensing and co-branding opportunities in Europe, USA, Canada,
Latin America, Asia (excluding Japan, Korea and China), Australia and New Zealand.
IV GEAR SIGN TO LAUNCH GECKO GIRL SPORTSWEAR
IV Gear, based in Toronto and Gecko Trading based in Hawaii, have entered into a licensing agreement that will see IV Gear
launching the first ever Gecko Girl collection of sportswear at retail for Spring 2009. IV Gear and Gecko have entered
into a three-year agreement that will provide IV Gear the access to the Gecko trademarks and artwork, as well as the
right to create a new Gecko Girl collection that will be sold into mid tier specialty and department stores across North
America.
The collection will consist of girl and junior sizes of graphic T-shirts, fashion knit tops, surf shorts, headwear and beach
bags, with a strong emphasis on surf and beach themed graphics created by Gecko. In addition to the Gecko Girl
Collection, IV Gear will be producing Gecko Boys Hoodies and Bags for the same market channels.
