NEW LICENSES FOR CHARLIE AND LOLA
Charlie and Lola, which airs every day on Playhouse Disney, are the
subject of a new range of plush dolls from Kids Preferred. The new
range will include a doll case and Penguin’s paperback books. The
new offerings will be available at retail stores nationwide this sum-
mer.
“We are excited to make available to Charlie and Lola
fans all across the U.S. this new range of one-of-a-kind
toys and books that will inspire them to use their imagi-
nations to go on their own adventures – just like Charlie and
Lola,” said Anna Hewitt, Head of International Licensing BBC World-
wide.
Kids Preferred also distributes Penguin’s series of Charlie and Lola
paperback and sticker and activity books. In addition, fans of the
series can find the Lola-inspired Pink Milk Game and a Charlie and
Lola version of the classic Go Fish game from Rix Products. A
complete range of paper party goods featuring the artwork from the
series also is available from Celebrate Express. The Children’s Apparel Net-
work has made available clothing featuring the characters, while Warner
Home Video offers a series of Charlie and Lola DVDs.
SIX FLAGS GO INTO CHINA
Theme park company Six Flags has signed into a one-year, agreement with Gulf Finance House BSC,
a publicly traded Islamic Investment Bank based in Bahrain.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Gulf Finance will acquire the exclusive right to license
the Six Flags brand and related intellectual property for theme park development in the People’s
Republic of China. Additionally, the two parties can collaborate on the future construction of a Six
Flags-themed luxury resort.
“This partnership underscores the renewed health of our brand and the opportunities that now
lie ahead for our unique thrill park experience,” commented Mark Shapiro, President of Six Flags.
“We’re excited about the potential of collaborating with Gulf Finance House to bring the new Six
Flags and its recharged product to an entirely new audience.”
In a separate move, Tatweer, a member of Dubai Holding, announced today a strategic alliance with
Six Flags to develop theme parks across the Arab world.
The highlight of the strategic alliance will be the development of Six Flags Dubailand, a five million
square feet multi-billion Dirham theme park within the world’s largest tourism, leisure and enter-
tainment destination.
The first Six Flags project to be developed outside of North America, the theme park comes as
part of Tatweer’s tactical contribution to Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, which aims to develop the
emirate into a leading global hub for tourism and leisure.
CAPTAIN FLAMINGO DEBUTS
Canadian entertainment company Breakthrough Entertain-
ment has recently launched Captain Flamingo – a coproduc-
tion between Breakthrough Animation, Heroic Film Com-
pany, Atomic Cartoons and Phillippine Animators Group.
Captain Flamingo is an animated series comprising 54 x 30
minute episodes including forty-four minutes of multi-plat-
form content.
Breakthrough believe that it has all the ingredients to be a
major success story and the series targets children aged six
to eleven.
To date, the series has been sold to YTV and Vrak in Canada,
Jetix and Disney in the US, Jetix Europe, ABC and Nickel-
odeon in Australia and Nickelodeon in Latin America. www.nickelodeon.tv
