EUROPEAN LICENSE FOR
THE IMPORTANCE OF TREND
ROBIN ZINGONE
RESEARCH
The dogs and cats from LoveMe by Robin Zingone will soon be appearing
in boutiques and department stores throughout Europe.
Robin has partnered with Dresz International BV from the Netherlands
to produce ranges of fashion-forward book bags, notebooks, pencil cases,
journals, stickers and book covers for 2008.
Robin Zingone created the LoveMe line based on kawaii, the pop culture
of Japan. The licensed images are accompanied by a line of LoveMe pet
necklaces, also designed by Robin Zingone, made of vintage beads and
pearls.
On a different note, Robin and Marsha Gray Carrington of mjZoom have
combined their talents to create a new line of everyday and seasonal
cards.
Making their debut in 2008, the cards feature patterns and images on the
front from Robin Zingone together with copy form Marsha Gray Car-
rington.
FreeBird Studio designer Darcel Phillips knows the importance of
trend research in developing artwork for today’s marketplace. She
subscribes to a trend service, trade show reports and color palette
forecasts, using them as the starting point in her creative process.
Darcel creates artwork in themed collections, with central images,
icons, borders, textures and backgrounds, giving her work the flexibility
manufacturers need to develop product. In addition Darcel works
with them to create whatever a project requires. She understands the
necessity of mock-ups as strong visuals and submits those with most
designs, when appropriate.
Her work is currently licensed on travel accessories, children’s water
safety products, children’s swimwear and adult swimwear. Darcel
anticipates expanding her licenses to include social expression, gifts,
tableware, partyware, paper products, textiles, home fashions, craft and
hobby and children’s and pet merchandise.
She exhibited this year at the CHA show and looks forward to her
third Surtex this year. She will be showing several new collections,
including florals, pets and 60’s inspired themes.
