DISNEY CHANNEL APPOINTS SIMON GEORGE HEAD OF
REGIONAL MARKETING FOR ASIA PACIFIC
Simon George has joined Disney Channel as Vice President, Regional Marketing, Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, he
reports to Nicky Parkinson, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Disney Channel Asia Pacific and Adam
Sanderson, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing, Disney/ABC Cable Networks Group.
In this newly established role, George will direct the marketing strategies for Disney Channel and Disney-branded
television businesses across the region and oversee the development of television franchises by working closely with
other divisions of The Walt Disney Company. He will also support the development of cohesive products and strate-
gies in the new media space.
Parkinson says: “Simon joins us with a wealth of experience in brand franchise management and will be instrumental
in growing Disney Channel’s businesses across the region.”
Sanderson commented, “The Asia Pacific region represents a tremendous growth opportunity to
extend TV properties across a broad spectrum of products and businesses, from consumer products to live
entertainment. Simon will be instrumental in helping us manage this important part of our global expansion.”
George brings to this new position extensive experience in marketing, brand management and commercial
exploitation. He joins the Company after seven years at Turner Broadcasting System where he was Vice President of
Cartoon Network Enterprises for Europe/Middle East/Africa, responsible for building brands and merchandising pro-
grams to maximize long-term value and financial return to the Network. Prior to that, he also worked in the sponsorship
and licensing industries as well as spending a number of years in the FMCG arena, notably Pepsi and Redbull.
JACQUELINE WILSON RETAIL SUCCESS
Jacqueline Wilson has proved to be a huge success at retail in the UK. The success of the Tracy Beaker girls nightwear
range stocked in Marks & Spencer has resulted in an expansion of product categories. The best-selling girls’ socks
range in the Next Directory is Clifton Bay’s Totally Tracy collection, also in Next, the Blues Clothing Totally Tracy t-
shirt that was trialled in Autumn 2006 has given rise to the fastest selling older girls’ line in Next.
Jacqueline Wilson is also proving to be a success in the Supermarkets, Kerry Foods’ Totally Tracy cake-making pack is
their first licensed range to receive blanket listings across all supermarkets. Zak’s melamine range is enjoying strong
sales across 107 Sainsbury’s stores and now has listings in Toys R Us and WH Smith.
Totally Tracy girls’ underwear and nightwear from Aykroyd/TDP will launch in Asda and BHS in Spring/Summer 2007.
Portico launched their stationery range for Sainsbury’s and have expanded the listings to be stocked by BHS for the
first time in Autumn 2007.
