MAKES WAVES IN THE ART WORLD!
There is no question as to why Drew Brophy is the top licensed surf artist today.
Drew’s painting style is very distinct with its bright colors, playful characters and
beach scenes. Drew has created thousands of paintings while traveling and surf-
ing around the world. Drew has over a million fans worldwide and is the most
written about and filmed surf artist to date. He became known for his iconic surfboard art and
is credited worldwide with popularizing the art of surfboard painting. Over the past two decades,
Drew has freely taught his techniques to many artists, and continues to do so with his soon to be
released DVD “Paint your Board – Paint Pen Techniques with Drew Brophy.”
Drew’s art is a strong draw to youth between the ages of 12 and 25, particularly in the extreme
sports lifestyle area. The median age of Drew’s fan base is 21, however, the majority of collectors
of his original art are over 40. Drew’s art translates extremely well to a variety of products, which
makes licensing a natural avenue.
At the young age of 36, film makers just completed a biography on Drew Brophy, highlighting his
life, his art, and his strong impact on the surf world. Drew is a personality that people enjoy watch-
ing, as he is someone that young people can relate to and want to aspire to be like – a regular guy
who lives his life incorporating his great love of surfing, painting, and playing guitar. Drew’s spon-
sors and licensees appreciate that he takes his responsibility as a positive role model very seriously.
Recent additions to Drew’s licenses include a sunscreen line through Tank Farm, high end ceramic
mugs through The Tiki Farm, back-to-school supplies with Leap Year, Posters through Poster Service,
Inc. and greeting cards and high end art prints through McKibben Studios. And finally, a TV pilot is
scheduled to film which will feature Drew painting his wild images onto a variety of items, including
a helicopter, jet-ski, boat, and a popular surf vehicle!
