The longest street in the world just extended into Northern Ireland and Indonesia. Sesame Workshop has begun produc-
tion on new local adaptations of Sesame Street and will also make a return to Brazil.
SixteenSouth, part of The Inferno Group, an award-winning creative television production and facilities house, has been
selected to produce Northern Ireland’s version of Sesame Street. The series will present stories and characters keyed to
the Foundation Stage of the new Northern Ireland curriculum. The series’ educational framework will emphasize a range
of objectives including valuing citizenship and diversity, developing problem solving skills, becoming aware of our com-
mon humanity, and appreciating similarities and differences. BBC Northern Ireland, which will broadcast
the series in February 2008, will also be building the series’ website. With content for children, parents, and
teachers, the online site will help extend the engaging and educational messages from
the TV program.
