AN INTRODUCTION
An Introduction
Telling Caribbean was formed in 1996 following interest in improving mortars for plastering,
Coral Rendering and restoration. After an analysis of sands available on the island, the
St. Phillip Quarry, Barbados was selected as the most pure and appropriate grading.
Under a joint venture with Coral Block Limited, an agreement was reached for the
recovery of Coral waste for conversion into sand for the production of quality mortars for
plastering, masonry and screeding.
All Coral Render
products are
manufactured under
consultation with a UK
based ISO9002
approved manufacturer
and conform to
BS5262:1991.
In climates where
extremes of heat,
humidity and excessive
salts occur an increasing
awareness of the
benefits of quality
controlled, pre-bagged
and polymer modified
mortars has developed.
A variety of graded
sands of selected colours create natural stone effect renders, through coloured finishes
and light coloured backgrounds to receive paint finishes. Utilising locally available cements,
Tellings have installed a manufacturing plant to supply 40Kg bags of polymer modified
mortars to the construction industry.
Good products do not make good masons but in the Caribbean climate polymers provide
the masons with slower setting plaster to achieve improved standards.
Pre-bagged products ensure a consistent quality of materials and save costs in labour,
riddling sand, plant, site distribution and wastage. An accurate cost for specific thickness
of material can be established. Expensive remedial measures are avoided and ‘slicking’ is
almost totally unnecessary.
The products are specially blended for base renders, screeds, waterproofing, natural
colour finishes and painting. Light coloured base materials reduce the painting requirement
to a diluted sealer coat and one full coat.
